National Sales Manager for Hirsch Gift

If you’ve visited Hirsch Gift’s trade show booths or participated in one of our virtual webinars, you likely recognize Sharon. Today we’re asking for her insights on the promotional products industry, COVID-19, and learning what she does outside of work.


Q: How long have you been in the Promotional Products Industry and how did you end up here? 

A: I met Peter shortly after he immigrated to the United States, and he started this great company. I came to work for HG in 1999 as his first full time employee. At that time we were in the gift industry selling high end vases, candelabras, photo frames, etc. and were approached by some local Houston distributors to engrave logos on our products. At first I thought that was crazy, but after learning more about the promotional products industry we found an engraver and went all in. Our first catalog was introduced in 2001. It's been a fun ride and become an industry that I love.


Q: What do you think the industry will look like in 10 years? 

A: Industry-wide, I think we’ll continue to see consolidation. Product-wise, technology products have become hugely popular in the past decade, so it only makes sense for this segment to continue to grow as the years go on and we integrate tech into our lives even more.


Q: What makes you feel good about a sale? 

A: A sale feels good when everything falls into place and you, the distributor, and your clients are happy. A sale feels great when we’re able to provide a truly unique solution that accomplishes the advertiser’s goal and does this in a way that’s complementary to their other marketing.


Q: What’s your go-to weekend activity? 

A: I love spending time with my family and friends. Craft beer, football and baseball are my favorite things so you can find me at the brewery or a game.


Q: Do you have pets at home? 

A: I have three dogs, Sandy, Molly, and Jerry. Up soon will be the adoption of a kitten. So follow me on Facebook to see my newest addition!


Q: What should Distributors be focusing on right now? 

A: As the states start opening from shelter in place orders I see a trend in getting back to work. I see personalized drinkware being a big hit right now. Also office essentials (computer mice, headsets, webcams), backpacks as we begin to travel, lunchboxes as many people are bringing their lunch to work with restaurants & kitchens not open and office gift sets on the rise.


Q: What’s your take on the pandemic and where we go from here? 

A: We’ve seen a huge shift in demand toward personal protective equipment and anything health-related. There have always been trends and fads, and the current PPE craze will fade eventually. I’m glad we can help supply some of these items, but at the same time I certainly look forward to returning to promotional products for marketing purposes.
